Line of the Day: June 2nd, 2011

1B/OF Aubrey Huff of the San Francisco Giants hit three home runs and matched a career-high with six RBI in the Giants 12-7 victory over the St. Louis Cardinals. It was the first three-homer game and 13th multi-homer game of his career.

Line: 5 AB, 3 R, 4 H, 6 RBI; 3 HR

My fantasy perspective: Huff's bat has woken up since rookie Brandon Belt was called up. He's gone 5-for-9 with four home runs and seven RBI in his last two games. Expect him to sit on the bench a couple times a week as manager Bruce Bochy rotates players around the outfield and first base. It will be hard to sit Huff if he continues to have the hot bat of the group.

Owned in 56.7% of ESPN and 59% of Yahoo! leagues, Huff may be worth the short-term look if you need help at first base, a corner infield slot or even an outfield or bench depth player. I'd target Belt if you're in a dynasty or keeper league, as he is the future plans for the Giants at first base. He's available in ~95% of all leagues.

  1. Looks like Huff is getting hot. He's a solid hitter and will produce the rest of the way out.
