Line of the Day: July 16th, 2011

Mike Stanton homered twice and matched a season-high with four RBI in the Florida Marlins 13-3 romp over the Chicago Cubs. It was the third multi-homer game of his young career.

Line: 5 AB | 2 R | 3 H | 4 RBI; 2 HR

My fantasy perspective: Stanton's on pace for a 34 HR/95 RBI season but those numbers come along with a sub-.260 batting average. If you drafted him, these were exactly the numbers you should have been expected.

At just 21 years old, Stanton has two 20-homer seasons under his belt in just 188 total games played. He'll easily be a 40-50 HR/year guy in the very near future but at what expense to your team's batting average. If he could learn how to become a .280 hitter, he'd be less of a liability and more respected as an elite fantasy baseball performer.

Question: Does Stanton eclipse 40 home runs this season? I say yes. What say you, fantasy GM?
