Line of the Day: July 15th, 2011

Ryan Dempster pitched four-hit ball over eight scoreless innings and struck out nine without issuing a walk as the Chicago Cubs help on to beat the Florida Marlins 2-1.

Line: 8 IP | 4 H | 0 ER | 0 BB | 9 K; W | QS

My fantasy perspective: After a disastrous April (6 GS, 1-3, 9.58 ERA), Dempster has done all he could to turn his season around. Since then, he's gone 6-3 with a 2.95 ERA in 14 starts. More impressively, the Cubs have gone 11-3 in those starts.

If Dempster can stay on this pace, he could easily amass 12-15 wins and approach 200 strikeouts while continually chipping away at his gaudy 4.68 ERA and 1.37 WHIP. You may be able to pry him away in a trade fairly cheaply from an owner who's only looking at his season's numbers and not the impressive run his been on over the last 2.5 months.
